Steven Jones
Creative Director
Steven is the Creative Director of the Company. With over thirty years experience in design, he holds a Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Design from Sydney College of The Arts. After working for some time in Sydney in plastic fabrication, exhibition and display, he opted to focus on his interest in graphic design and in 1985 established the company which has evolved to become Highland Creative.
Over the years he has built up extensive experience in graphic design, working with clients to develop branding and has designed countless logos and business identities, websites, brochures, advertising, signage, catalogues, stationary, books and magazines.
One of the rare breed of creative ‘techos’, he recognises and values the challenge that technology brings. He believes that a working website can be designed to be functional and still look good, and has the ability to develop the backend of sites separately or in conjunction with freelancers to develop varying levels of sites.
His high standards, eye for design and detail, technical expertise and ability to communicate well with technicians combine to ensure quality control. His gracious approach delivers outstanding service.
A longstanding membership of the Australian Graphic Design Association [AGDA] and Design Institute of Australia [DIA] keeps him up with current trends while maintaining contact with other graphic designers.
An artist in his own right, Steven is also recognised as a craftsman and fine ceramicist.
Ali Boyd
Studio Manager
Artist and writer Ali thrives within the creative and collaborative team environment of Highland Creative. She appreciates the value of social media and its role in the marketing of any business via the internet, and applies her writing skills to developing and editing web and blog content and entries for Linked In, Twitter and Facebook.
Ali’s interest in graphic design was ignited while studying for a Bachelor of Creative Arts with creative writing major at Wollongong University, and upon graduation she joined the company and commenced a Diploma Graphic Design & Desktop Publishing at ACQED, Sydney.
She appreciates contact with clients, realising deadlines, and the challenge of providing optimal solutions for each individual task and client.
In her spare time, Ali continually develops her practice as artist and writer; as silversmith and author of novels, poetry and radio plays.

Claire has several years’ experience designing for the music industry and advertising agencies and holds a Bachelor of Creative Arts from Wollongong University, graduating in 2008 with a double major in Graphic Design and Visual Arts.

With strong management and communication skills honed while a teacher, Helen assumed the role of Accounts Manager when she commenced working full-time in the family business in the late 1990s.
Her love of writing, strong sense of marketing and aesthetics and ability to assess the essence of any business and transcribe people’s stories all combine to make her an experienced and accomplished copywriter and freelance Arts writer.
Helen holds a Bachelor of Education and has extensive secondary school teaching experience in Victoria and New South Wales, specialising in Technology – food, hospitality, design and technology, and textiles. She also trained at the Cordon Bleu in London and practised as a chef throughout the United Kingdom during ‘gap years’, and in recent years has undertaken studies in journalism.

In her spare time she applies her love of fabric, colour, texture and design to contemporary patchwork.
